Travel | Girls trip to Barcelona

September has flown by and it’s probably because there has been so much going on in my life recently. I officially started a new job, I turned the grand old age of 24 and in the middle of that I jetted off to Barcelona with my best friend, Chloe for a weekend away. It was an amazing five days full of sightseeing, shopping and sun. I loved catching up with Chloe, who was my fellow Style Editor with me at Uni and who I don’t see enough of. Here is a little snippet of what we got up to…

We stayed in a lovely hotel really close to the beach to the east of the center called H10 Marina. It was perfect for us as we could walk to the center, beach and local bars quickly and easily and felt really safe. The roof top pool and bar was a bonus too.
We got around by hopping on and off the sight seeing buses that circle around Barcelona. They were well worth the money and great seeing a bit of everything and as neither of us has visited this city before we could get our bearings. We bought a two day ticket and felt like keen-bean tourists plugging our attractive red headphones into the on board tour guide radio.

On the Saturday we happened to stumble across a wine tasting festival (how convenient…) walking from our hotel to the center. It was near the Arc De Triomf and worked by renting glasses and buying tokens in exchange for a wine that took your fancy! Safe to say we were struggling to read to map after our third glass! No wonder we found ourselves drawn to the bright lights of Zara later that night…

We saw all the beautiful tourist sights of Barcelona, like the Parc Guell and Sagrada Famillia, which I would recommend queuing and paying to visit inside as it is breath-taking. My favourite part was the quaint streets, courtyards and beautifully decorated balconies that lined the roads all around Barcelona. I was forever looking up during my visit.

During our few nights there, the festival of La Merce was taking place across the city and we were lucky enough to join in with some of the celebrations. We saw amazing fireworks on the beach one night whilst having dinner and just happened to walk into a parade with huge puppets whist walking along La Rambla too.

There were so many great places to eat around the city, we found a busy courtyard just off the infamous, La Rambla street where we shared a traditional vegetable paella on night.

I could go on for a while as we saw and did so much in such a short space of time. Barcelona is a great city for everyone. If you want to do some sightseeing, go out to clubs and bars or just to chill out on the beach there is a bit of everything.

Check out my Instagram feed for more photos for our trip.. mainly of all the cocktails we drank and the view from our roof top pool! And if you havent' already, click here to see what I got up to on a recent trip to the beautiful city of Munich.

I would love to hear if you have ever been to Barcelona, and what you thought of it! Where should I go on my next European city break?
