How to Crochet | The Basics - Chain Stitch | Part 1

If you follow me on social media, you might know I love a bit of crocheting. I started to learn a year or so ago after getting a little bored of knitting and wanted to create really pretty summer items instead.

My mum taught me and I was surprised how quickly I was able to pick it up, crocheting is so easy!

I recently discovered Wool and the Gang, a London based company selling knitting and crocheting kits to make learning a new skill easy! I love their super chunky wool too, so bought some and thought I would show you some basic steps to get started. So if you want to learn to crochet grab some yarn and a hook and follow along...

I love Easter, not just for the bank holiday but for the beautiful flowers and blooms that come out around this time.

Everything seems so much more alive and fresh, and I love bringing that into my home. So I thought I would show you a little way I like to display flowers around my house that doesn't cost much and uses bits and bobs found laying around.

Read on to see how I transformed an old jar into an Easter inspired flower display...

DIY | Gold Wire Memo Board How To

I can't believe we have been in our new house for 5 months now and it is starting to all come together and feel homely. We are currently decorating the spare bedroom so we can finally have guests to visit and after a lick of paint the room feels a lot brighter and fresher.

I want to make a corner of the spare room an area I can work from with a desk, and storage for my crafts so started to pin things to Pinterest for inspiration. There are some incredible office area images online but one that really caught my eye had an amazing large notice board. After a little hunting I found one I loved from Urban Outfitters however it was a little out of my price range so I thought, why not make one for a fraction of the cost?!

5 Hobbies to Take Up this Lent

So lent starts tomorrow and you might be thinking what to give up for 40 days until Easter...

A little like new years, I find it hard sticking to resolutions over lent especially when it involves restricting myself like cutting out sweets or ice cream. I believe in moderation and as long as your lifestyle is healthy and balanced there is nothing wrong with treating yourself once in a while, right?

So instead of 'giving up' this lent I want to 'take up', try a new craft and overall have a goal to aim for rather than 'giving something up'. I know this goes against the message of lent but I wanted to do something positive and constructive over lent, growing my creative skills by learning something new. I have made a little list of suggestions for exciting new skills I want to try and take up. Over the 40 days I plan to make an effort to work on the skill every week and by the Easter I should have learnt a new skill and even improved in that short time. Having a time limit will be great motivation and Ill keep you guys updated on Twitter and Instagram with how I am doing!

If you fancy on joining me on my little challenge here are my suggestions and ideas for hobbies to take up this lent...

DIY | Brushlettering Wall Art

Please tell me I'm not the only one who pins endless amount of quotes on Pinterest just because the typography is so beautiful?!

I wanted to give brushlettering a go for a while, so ordered myself a set of pens from ebay and decided to create some simple wall art to start off with. I've read a few posts about brushlettering and the main thing I picked up was that it takes a lot of practice, you are never going to get that delicate, curved type straight away but everyone has to start somewhere, right?

Read on to hear a few lessons I have learnt during my first attempt at brushlettering and see how I created these cute wall hanging quotes...

A Lazy Girl's Guide to Getting Healthy

So we are well into 2016 now and hands up who has already broken their new years resolution?!

Yep, me too!

Mine was your standard ‘exercise more & get healthy’ resolution and after a keen first week or so of stretching every morning and gym most nights, this past week has seen me eating out a lot and exercise has taken a back seat.

So as we enter February, I have put together a little motivational guide with some tips on how to get back into the fitness swing. I am by no means a fitness expert (give me a sofa and my pj’s over a treadmill and trainers any day) so these are just a few tricks I am using to help me stay on track this 2016.
